Head of Engineering

  • Remote

Job description

🇦🇷 Available to work remotely from Argentina

The job proposal

In Aerolab, we design and build digital products that make a difference. Our teams are curious, collaborative, and committed to continuous improvement. We work closely with clients, designers, and developers to create things that matter.

We’re looking for a Head of Engineering to lead our biggest team and help shape the technical future of Aerolab. This is a strategic, high-impact role that reports directly to the COO and works closely with the leadership team.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring technical excellence across all projects, growing and empowering the dev team, and pushing our engineering culture forward. It’s a mix of people, process, and product — and it’s critical for the next stage of our growth.

Your job responsibilities include

With the team:

  • Lead and support a team of 15–20 developers.

  • Define the structure of the engineering team and assign clear roles and responsibilities.

  • Promote career growth through mentorship, coaching, and training initiatives.

  • Drive performance processes, salary reviews, and internal promotions in collaboration with People.

  • Own and evolve our development framework, including our career matrix and growing programs.

  • Lead technical recruitment efforts: interviews, challenge design, and team calibration.

  • Plan and run regular 1:1s with reports, using feedback as a tool for growth.

  • Design and implement initiatives to improve team skills, collaboration, and satisfaction.

With clients and projects:

  • Ensure each project has the right technical setup and talent assigned.

  • Support critical projects with technical guidance and leadership.

  • Join client-facing meetings and discovery sessions to align technical needs and solutions.

  • Represent the dev team in sales conversations, onboarding calls, and case study creation.

At the organizational level:

  • Collaborate with the COO and other directors on strategic planning and execution.

  • Define and track KPIs to identify improvements in team performance and delivery.

  • Manage the engineering budget: tools, learning resources, and growth programs.

  • Join key meetings like EOS sessions, S&OP, MBR, and company-wide Staff meetings.

  • Contribute to the design and follow-up of company OKRs and strategic initiatives.

Engineering culture and continuous improvement:

  • Stay ahead of tech trends and bring relevant ideas into Aerolab.

  • Ensure our tools, processes, and practices are documented and up-to-date.

  • Encourage a culture of feedback, learning, and ownership.

  • Represent Aerolab’s values in action and help others do the same.

Job requirements

What do we expect from you?

Experience:

  • 7+ years working in development, and at least 2 years leading dev teams.

  • Experience working in agile, cross-functional product teams.

  • Comfortable communicating in English (intermediate level or above).

  • Background in digital product companies or agencies.

  • Degree in Computer Engineering, Systems, or related fields is a plus.

Tech stack & skills:

  • Strong technical foundations in JavaScript, Node.js, React, and TypeScript.

  • Familiar with databases (SQL and NoSQL), API development, infrastructure, and DevOps.

  • Solid understanding of scalable architecture, performance, and best practices.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and documentation.

Leadership & soft skills:

  • Strategic mindset: you understand how technical decisions impact business and product goals.

  • Planning and prioritization: you know how to manage time, people, and resources.

  • Decision-making: you can analyze, involve others, and move forward with clarity.

  • Communication: you’re clear, direct, and intentional when sharing ideas or feedback.

  • Empathy and pedagogy: you adapt your support to each person and help others grow.

  • Coaching mindset: you recognize strengths, give actionable feedback, and build trust.

  • Ownership: you lead with responsibility and empower others to do the same.

  • Learning agility: you apply past learnings to new contexts and challenges.

What are you going to find at Aerolab?

A collaborative and product-driven culture with strong design and tech DNA.

Direct impact in both internal decisions and client-facing work.

Autonomy to improve, change, and evolve how things are done.

Real people-first values in action — not just in PowerPoints.

A team that’s curious, kind, and committed to doing meaningful work.
